The UN Security Council resolution recently passed a resolution to bring peace to Southern Lebanon. It was led to believe that France
would be the backbone of the UN troops who would assist the Lebanese Army in patrolling the south of Lebanon near Israel. France has just announced that it will be providing a miserly total of 200 troops for this operation. To put this show of force in its proper perspective, the military giant of Europe, the Republic of Ireland, is suppose to approve 120 soldiers for the UN operation. 
Some analyst have compared the US and European relationship as that of a man and a woman. With the United States having the stereotypical male traits and Europe providing the female side. The French government has been doing its part to support this generalization. For the past several years France has nagged the United States incessantly over its "cowboy" foreign policy. With Lebanon, the French have been given the opportunity to lead for the first time since Bosnia. Leadership is not only being able to provide vision, but the ability to invest and accept the risk, and potential failure. In the end, the French government has shown that it is only interested in the risk free art of complaining and heckling the United States. When the opportunity comes for the French to make the commitments demanded of leadership, they run. We know that the French have had great individuals with true leadership capabilities, but where is the Marquis de Lafayette when we need him?

Are you agreeing? I can add to that now. My sister use to alwasy say that "it was a woman's right to change her mind." After the Italians said they would send 3,000 troops and lead the UN mission, now the French say they will send 2,000 soldiers if they can lead the mission.
FYI - For the PC police, please note that they should feel free to go-to-town with negative males traits that are associated with George Bush, the United States and males.
